DeclutterPrivacy policy
This policy is published by the individual developer ("the developer") who operates the Declutter app ("the app") and its website (declutterapp.pages.dev, "the website"), in line with Korea's Personal Information Protection Act. If this English version and the Korean version differ, the Korean version prevails.
1. Why personal information is processed
The app has no accounts or sign-in, and the developer collects no personal information through the app. All photo cleanup runs on the device.
The only personal information the developer processes is a launch-notification signup on the website, used to send one email when the app launches on Google Play (see 2-2). Payments are handled by Google Play; the developer processes no personal information for them.
2. What is processed
2-1. The app
The app collects no personal information. The following values stay on the device, are never transmitted, and are not considered personal information:
- Cleanup progress (Keep/Remove choices, the To remove and To move lists), keyed to each photo's MediaStore ID (
_ID) - Whether the in-app purchase is unlocked
- First install time (for the free trial), free-tier daily usage, cleanup stats, and app settings
What reaches third parties through ads and maps is described in sections 7 and 11.
2-2. Website launch waitlist
- Collected: email address, signup time, and the language of the page you signed up on
- How: you type it into the signup form on the website
- Legal basis: processing needed to send the notification you asked for (Korea PIPA Art. 15(1)(4))
- Purpose: one email announcing the Google Play launch. No ads or newsletters.
- Retention: deleted right after the launch email is sent, or one year after signup if the app never launches
Signing up is optional; the website works the same without it. The signup record never includes your IP address or device details.
3. Retention
The app keeps no personal information, so there is no retention period for it. The values in 2-1 stay on your device while you use the app. Waitlist signups are kept only for the period in 2-2.
4. Deletion
Uninstalling the app makes the operating system delete everything it stored on the device. Waitlist signups are permanently deleted from storage when their retention period ends.
5. Processors and international transfer
The website and waitlist signups run on services from Cloudflare, Inc., which means personal information is transferred abroad.

- When and how: at signup, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection

- Why: to run the website and keep the signup record
- Retention: as in 2-2
- Basis: storage needed to send the notification you asked for, disclosed in this policy (Korea PIPA Art. 28-8(1)(3))
If you don't want your information transferred abroad, don't sign up; you just won't get the launch email.
6. Your rights
The app collects no personal information, so there is nothing to access, correct, delete or suspend for it. If you joined the waitlist, you can ask to see, delete or stop processing your signup, or cancel it, through the contact in section 8. We act on it without delay.
7. Safeguards
- Photo analysis and cleanup (Keep/Remove decisions) run only on the device; no photo or its contents is sent to any server. There are two network exceptions. (1) When a photo's details show where it was taken, the app requests a map image from the OpenStreetMap tile server (tile.openstreetmap.org) using the map tile computed from the photo's location, so OpenStreetMap learns the approximate area (OSMF Privacy Policy). (2) Free-tier users see Google AdMob ads, and the ads SDK sends device information to Google. See section 11.
- Least privilege: the app requests only photo access (
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) and photo location metadata access (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) for the map. Neither is used to send photo files out of the app. - The app talks to Google Play Billing only when you buy; card numbers and other payment details never pass through or stay in the app.
- Waitlist signups travel only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and only the developer can access the storage.

11. Behavioral data, automated decisions, portability, complaints
- Behavioral data (ads): free-tier users see Google AdMob interstitial ads and optional rewarded ads (for a daily usage bonus). During the free trial (TRIAL) or after purchase (UNLOCKED), no ads are requested and no ad consent form is shown. The ads SDK may send your advertising ID, ad interactions and device diagnostics to Google; none of it includes your photos. Where consent is required (EEA/UK and others), Google's consent form (UMP) is shown before any ad. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in device settings. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Analytics and cookies: neither the app nor the website uses analytics or cookies. When you visit the website, Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address to serve and protect it, and the jsDelivr CDN that serves the website font also receives connection data.
- Automated decisions: cleanup suggestions come from on-device logic only and make no decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You make every final delete decision yourself.
- Portability: the app collects no personal information, so there is nothing to transfer.
- Complaints: same as section 9 (contact in section 8).
12. Children under 14
The app includes in-app purchases and is for users 14 and older. We don't collect personal information from children under 14, and children under 14 can't join the website waitlist.

Changes are posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
